Up until this week I had great respect for Garance Dore with her impeccable taste, and amazing blog. However, a friend sent me this article from StyleIte in which Dore claims that pushing models who are "plus size" / a size 8, gives off an unhealthy image. "Dore believes that putting a few size 8 models on a cover or walking them down a runway doesn’t promote a more inclusive body image ideal."

Are you kidding me? I seriously hope that this was the writers interpretation of what she was saying because nothing is more inclusive and healthy than a normal sized model. Not a pin thin, non-eating, size 0 with a bad attitude. Most models DO NOT EAT to stay thin. Having been there as a teenager, and later in life hearing tons of horror stories about girls who wouldn't even eat a carrot if they fainted, I am truly sick of the poor disgraceful body imagine that the fashion world promotes. It disgusts me.
It's about time that everyone in the fashion world started to use size 8 models. We need to make a difference in a society that covet celebrities and models who do not eat to stay morbidly disgustingly thin. It's ok to not be skinny thin. You're not going to die from being a healthy body weight for your height and frame. However, you are going to die if you don't eat. I get that some people are born to be thin people and some are born to be big people. It's just genetics, I get that. But even the people who are born to be thin, don't always have their bones showing through cellophane-like skin. If we can see your bones, you're underweight, eat a sandwich and have a milkshake. Every hour until you look normal, in fact.
All I'm saying is that people need to be smart. Stop being so dang superficial. Get over the artificial size 0. Eat something. Be done with this:
Can more designers please use models that are size 8?! Please.
