Take This Waltz:: Date Night

My Mum and Dad are looking after the smalls for the weekend - Matt and I drove back together on Friday, and I must say, life feels very empty without the little peeps.

So last night we went to the movies. Old school date night. We're fancy and crazy like that. I wore Matt's jumper and my Chucks. Hardly dressed up, but goodness, it was so nice to hang together and not have to worry about our littles.

Anyone who follows PottyMouthMama on Facebook knows that I love Michelle Williams. I never ever watched Dawson's Creek, so I only know her from Heath Ledger love and a great selection of indie films.

'Take This Waltz' is a beautiful demonstration of Michelle Williams.

I felt like I was part of the movie. It's beautiful and raw, sad yet very funny, and it will make your heart ache.

Plus there is the deliciously talented eye candy of Luke Kirby. Say hello to Luke Kirby. His sparkly eyes are tres magnifique (this photo doesn't do justice to the magnificence that is Luke Kirby).

But back to the movie. So, so good. I want to see it again. Visually it's a pleasure. And ever since walking out Matt and I have been talking about it. It was that, that good.

I'm Famous! (Also Known As: What To Do In The School Holidays)

Tiny has a fascination with being famous at the moment. I'm not altogether convinced she quite grasps the idea of being famous, but when something good happens she'll jump up and down and shout: "I'm famous, I'm famous." And then she does a funny little jig and continues her chant.

It's cute rather than being precocious. Well I can say that, I am her mama.

Last weekend we got to tread the charcoal swirly carpet to view a preview of Brave. (Almost famous.) There was highland dancing, bagpipers, face painting, and then of course - the movie.The smalls were in utopia.

Brave is all about a teenage girl-princess, Merida, growing up in Scotland. It involves bows and arrows, haggis, bears, and a witchy woodworker. We found it pretty enchanting. Tiny got scared at one point and climbed onto my lap - and then continued to rave about Brave after we got home.

I loved listening to Billy Connelly and Emma Thompson breathing life into their characters. And the gags that went over the kid's heads.

The smalls loved the adventure, the story, the action and the excitement. For us, it's school holiday viewing recommended. And basically, since I need all the help I can get for school holidays - I'm going to continue this week with some more school holiday worthy ideas that you might like.

But a small typo here. Ouch. Someone needs to get hit over the head with a dictionary.

Mark Wahlberg? And Mila Kunis? YES PLEASE!

I am totes hanging out to see this new film. I love Marky Mark at the best of times. This just tips me over the edge.

The Face of Birth

I am really excited to see this documentary ASAP. If you're a long time reader of PMM, you'll know I am very passionate about birth. If you're new to PMM, FYI - I am very passionate about birth.


It features one of my all-time favourites, Sheila Kitzinger. During my pregnancies I read a lot of her books. I love her, she's pragmatic and passionate and just down-to-earth and smart. 


And Michael Odent - the man gives me goosebumps.

I Can't Wait.

I can't wait to see this film. I read the book when I was an SAHM and I really hated it. Like, really, really hated it. But still read it. But now I am a work-away-from-home-mum, I can see what that book was banging on about.

And I really, really love SJP. Have you ever heard her interviewed? Most polite, lovely, charming, witty, intelligent, stylish woman. I LOVE SJP.

Can not wait to see this film.

Dr's Orders:: Yogi Bear Review

It's cold and chilly and the four of us are curled up watching 'Yogi Bear'. We've already watched it together a few times, and it's still drawing laughter from us.

Featuring the voices of Dan Akroyd (Yogi) and Justin Timberlake (Boo Boo), the two bears' bumbling schemes are a recipe for disaster and laughter.

The Doctor: I can't remember. Sometimes when the fireworks go off. And the other funny bit that makes me laugh is him riding on the armadillo.
