Developed during a time of obvious economic and social unrest and ultimately a time during which everyone is re-evaluating their personal ideals and their outlook on life, Lela Jacobs Winter 2012 collection entitled Manifesto of Uncertainty is therefore suggestive of the current state of flux our societies find themselves in; re-writing ones manifesto, so-to-speak.
The artwork that features across the collection "is a scrunched up paper ball, like a scrunched up manifesto; such huge changing times require changing manifestos.” Jacobs notes. Abstract and monochromatic, the print is appropriately bold and near-indecipherable, appearing across oversized silk drape tees and capes. It also adorns the fully-lined waterproof poncho, and just like the versatility of said piece also resembles a white rose.
